Terms a call center agent will hear from prospects, ranked by frequency.

High-frequency (you'll hear these every week)

Term	Definition
PCI (Pavement Condition Index)	A 0–100 score representing the condition of a pavement section. ASTM D6433 is the underlying standard. The headline number every pavement inspector cares about.
D6433 (ASTM D6433)	The US standard for road and parking-lot PCI surveys. Defines sample-unit sizing, 19 AC distress types, 19 PCC distress types, deduct curves, and CDV iteration.
PROWAG	Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines. The 2023 US standard for accessible sidewalks, curb ramps, and pedestrian routes. Issued by the US Access Board.
ADA	Americans with Disabilities Act. The 2010 ADA Standards Chapter 4 governs accessible routes in private accommodations; 28 CFR Part 35 governs the public sector (Title II).
MUTCD	Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. The US standard for road markings and signs; current is 11th Edition (December 2023).
ICAO Annex 14	International Civil Aviation Organization standard for aerodrome design and operations. Universally adopted outside the US.
ArcGIS	Esri's geographic-information-system platform. Dominant in US municipal and AEC use; very strong in EU. LAIRA outputs to ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise customer tenants natively.
Esri	The company that makes ArcGIS. Airwai has a co-marketing partnership with Esri.
AEC	Architecture, Engineering, Construction. The industry segment that buys LAIRA.
Part 139	FAA Part 139 — the regulation that governs commercial airport operations in the US, including pavement maintenance.
HPMS	Highway Performance Monitoring System. FHWA's required reporting framework for federal-aid pavement condition.
IFC	Industry Foundation Classes. Open BIM data format for construction handoff. LAIRA exports IFC 2x3 and IFC 4.

Medium-frequency

Term	Definition
LiDAR	Light Detection And Ranging. The sensor that fires laser pulses to measure distances and build 3D point clouds. iPhone Pro and iPad Pro have built-in LiDAR; the LAIRA app uses it.
Point cloud	The 3D dataset LiDAR produces — a collection of points in 3D space, each with x/y/z and (optionally) color and intensity.
GNSS / GPS	Global Navigation Satellite System / Global Positioning System. Used to geolocate every scan. iPhone has consumer-grade GPS; the LAIRA Rig uses survey-grade Septentrio RTK GNSS.
RTK	Real-Time Kinematic. A GPS technique that achieves ~2cm accuracy by using a base-station correction. Standard on the Rig; not available on iPhone.
PAVER	Pavement-management software adopted across DoD, USACE, and many municipalities. LAIRA outputs are PAVER-compatible.
PCASE	Pavement-Transportation Computer Assisted Structural Engineering. USACE-owned pavement-design tool. LAIRA's outputs feed it.
NBIS	National Bridge Inspection Standards (FHWA). LAIRA's bridge-deck scope sits adjacent to NBIS (not a substitute for the structural inspection itself).
AAAE	American Association of Airport Executives. Trade body for airport operators.
ACRP	Airport Cooperative Research Program. Research arm relevant to Part 139 airports.
FAA AC 150/...	FAA Advisory Circulars in the 150 series govern airport-related practices (5380 family covers pavement; 5340 covers signs and markings).
UFC	Unified Facilities Criteria. DoD construction/maintenance standards. UFC 3-260-16 covers military airfields; UFC 3-270-08 covers DoD road maintenance.
Title II / Title III	Sections of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Title II = public sector (city, state). Title III = private accommodations.
EU Accessibility Act	EU Directive 2019/882. Member-state compliance deadline was June 28, 2025; full ramp through 2028. Drives sidewalk-audit demand in Europe.
EN 13036	European norm for surface characteristics of roads and airfields.
CAA	Civil Aviation Authority. The aviation regulator in many non-US jurisdictions (UK CAA, Irish AA, etc.).

Lower-frequency, but you may hear them

Term	Definition
FWD	Falling Weight Deflectometer. Subsurface structural-evaluation device. LAIRA does NOT do FWD; we feed FWD planning.
CFME	Continuous Friction Measurement Equipment. Tire-contact friction testing. LAIRA does NOT do this.
MASH	Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware. AASHTO standard for roadside hardware (guardrails, crash cushions).
NPDES	National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System. EPA stormwater regulation; touches LAIRA when drainage features are part of the scan.
SDS / Garrison DPW	Directorate of Public Works on a US military installation. The CE office at a base.
AFCEC	Air Force Civil Engineer Center. The enterprise-pavement evaluator for DAF installations.
NAVFAC	Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command. Navy installation infrastructure organization.
USACE	US Army Corps of Engineers. Contracts on Army installations + civil-works portfolio.
AASHTO	American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. Publishes consensus standards for state DOTs.
AIIM / DAS	EU airfield management norms relevant to non-FAA airports.
Willits-class consent decree	Pattern of ADA / PROWAG class-action settlements that obligate cities to inspect and remediate sidewalks. Major demand driver.
